LIVERMORE FALLS — The Livermore Falls Downtown Group will hold their annual meeting from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, at the Androscoggin Valley Medical Arts Center, Main Street.

There will be light refreshments, friendly visiting, the presentation of the annual Community Award and a brief business meeting to vote in the officers and board members for 2013.

The slate of new officers are: president, Bob Berry of Main-Land Development; vice-president, Susan Parker Papillon of Spruce Mountain Financial Group; treasurer, Cindy McNeil of the Androscoggin Bank; and secretary, Kathleen Szostek of The Maine Real Estate Network.

Guest speaker for the evening is noted Maine author, Monica Wood, who will read from her book, “When We Were the Kennedys: A Memoir from Mexico, Maine.” Monica won the 2012 May Sarton Memorial award for the best memoir from a U.S. or Canadian woman. Also, the book was runner up in the 2012 New England Book Festival in the autobiography classification. Attendees are welcome to bring a book for Monica’s autograph.

After the meeting, Betterment Group board member Kenny Jacques will give tours of the recently renovated Lamb Block. The top of this historic building is occupied by Western Maine Family Health. Business offices are available on the second floor, affordably, with shared conference room space and retail space on the ground floor.

The Betterment Group is committed to the revitalization of the downtown village both esthetically and economically. There are currently a couple of positions open on the board and members need not be a resident of Livermore Falls. Those with an interest in the mission and willingness to actively serve are encouraged to attend the monthly meetings, held on the second Tuesday of each month from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Livermore Falls Town Office.
