Bombier will be on hand for the opening of the show, which will run from 5-7 p.m. The gallery is located at 223 Lisbon Street, in the space formerly used by Captive Elements Art House.

“We’re thrilled to bring in someone largely regarded as one of the top photographers in Canada to share her love of the natural world with us in this debut exhibit,” said Joshua Shea, one of the gallery’s owners. “While you’ll see plenty of earth, fire and water in Laura’s photos, you’ll be intrigued by how she integrates the real elements to create the ‘sensory experience’ in the exhibit title.”

Also at the opening will be television’s “Survivorman” Les Stroud, who will be signing his new book in conjunction with the kick-off of the Lewiston Auburn Film Festival. Bombier and Stroud have worked together on many projects including the television programs Survivorman and Beyond Survival.

As a bonus for those who attend opening night, Prose Gallery will raffle an invitation to join both Bombier and Stroud, along with the staff of Prose Gallery and other VIPs for a private dinner that night at Marché restaurant.

Shea explained Prose Gallery hopes to mix traditional art with other mediums not always associated with art galleries. As an example, said Shea, for a late April exhibit, fashion and body image will be highlighted with an exhibit of Paul Lewandowski’s unique fashion designs and a photography exhibit that will serve as an extension of a photo essay in the May issue of Lewiston Auburn Magazine, which shares the space with Prose Gallery.

“We’re opening this up just in time for Art Walk season and can’t wait to share the exhibits of some of the artists we’ve been lining up. We’re excited to join our friends at Lyceum Gallery and Kimball Street Studios here on Lisbon Street to hopefully start making people see downtown Lewiston as a destination for top notch galleries,” said Shea.

There is no charge to attend the April 4 opening and all ages are welcome. Complimentary food and beverages will be provided.
