FARMINGTON — Investigators from the State Fire Marshal’s office were on the scene of a house fire on Industry Road on Thursday morning to help determine the cause.

The fire doesn’t appear to be suspicious, but the cause is still undetermined, Farmington Fire Chief Terry Bell said at the scene as investigators Sgt. Ken Grimes and Mary MacMaster prepared to enter the home with him.

Several fire departments assisted fighting Wednesday night’s fire that is believed to have started in the rear corner of the home owned by Linda Shipley of Freeport.

A tenant, Timothy Koenig, and his dog were not home when the fire broke out, said Tim Hardy, deputy fire chief of Farmington Fire and Rescue.

The fire caused significant damage, he said. It appears that the tenant had insurance, but that the home owner may not. An estimate of damage was unavailable.

There were no problems fighting the 9:14 p.m. fire, Bell said. The home is located just beyond the Industry Road intersection with Middle Street.

Mutual aid from Wilton, Strong, Industry, Temple, Jay and New Sharon assisted at the scene.
