The scene is set in Truvy’s Beauty Spot, a local beauty parlor in Chinquapin, Louisiana. This hilarious and touching play focuses on the camaraderie of six southern women who talk, gossip, harangue and needle each other through the best of times, and repair and support each other through the worst. Filled with hilarious repartee and humorous verbal collisions the play also displays the ladies underlying strength. Ultimately, though they may be perceived to be as delicate as magnolia flowers, through laughter and friendship, they are as strong as steel.

Author Robert Harling was inspired to write this drama by the true life events involving his mother, sister Susan and their friends.
