WORCESTER, Mass. — Christine M. Renaud, a fourth year student at The College of The Holy Cross, was recently inducted into three National Honor Societies.
Alpha Sigma Nu, The Honor Society of the Jesuit Institutions of higher education, is unique among honor societies in that it seeks to identify the most promising students who demonstrate an intelligent appreciation of and commitment to the ideals of Jesuit high education: intellectual, social, moral and religious.
Alpha Sigma Nu is a society that seeks to honor those students of Jesuit Institutions of higher learning who embody and live out the values of scholarship, loyalty, leadership and service. Candidates for membership are selected from the top 15 percent of their class, and from this group membership will be awarded to only four percent.
Alpha Sigma Nu also recognizes that the value of a Jesuit education is that it not only draws from the classroom learning experience, but also from emphasis on a commitment to and concern for the well being of others. The members of Alpha Sigma Nu form a community that successfully integrates the ideals of service and scholarship into a meaningful life. While drawing its membership from diverse faith traditions, Alpha Sigma Nu distinguishes those students who have made the most of their experience in a Jesuit academic community.
Membership is by invitation only.
Alpha Kappa Delta, The National Honor Society in Sociology, is an affiliate of the American Sociological Association and awards recognition to high scholarship in sociology. This national honor society is for students who have distinguished themselves in sociology and have “impressive departmental and college grade point averages, along with the support of department faculty.”
Psi Chi is The National Honor Society in Psychology and an affiliate of the American Psychological Association, which seeks to nurture student involvement in psychology. One must be in the top of their major and class to achieve this distinction and honor.
Christine was also named to the dean’s list for the fall 2012 semester. She is the daughter of Norm and Rita Renaud of Lisbon Falls.
