DIXFIELD —   The Western Mountain Cal Ripken Baseball League of the Rumford, Mexico, Dixfield area is announcing its tryouts for major leagues, ages 9-12 on April 6th at Dirigo High School from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.  Prior to tryouts, there will be a coach’s meeting for both major and minor leagues from 8 a.m.-10 a.m. All coach’s are invited and strongly encouraged to attend.  For tryouts, the cut off date is April 30th for turning nine or not turning 13.

All new interested boys and girls ages 9-12 who want to play baseball MUST try out, unless they were already on a previous roster.  All non-registered players must register prior to tryouts at their town’s local recreation center, Rumford(GRCC), Mexico, Roxbury and Byron(River Valley Rec.), Dixfield(Dixfield Rec.), Peru and Canton(Peru Rec.), Rumford Point and Andover(Rumford Point Baseball).

Any appropriate aged player who registers after tryouts will not be automatically put on a roster and will be evaluated by a Western Maine Cal Ripken representative to determine their qualification for major and minor league play. Any player, who was on a previous roster and doesn’t register before tryouts, isn’t guaranteed to be placed on the same team, depending on the town in which they live.  For further information contact your appropriate recreation department.
