AUBURN — The Mary Dillingham Chapter, National Daughters of the American Revolution, of Lewiston/Auburn will honor six high school seniors at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 10, at the United Methodist Church of Auburn.

The students are winners of the DAR Good Citizens Award and the DAR National Defense Good Citizenship Medal Awards. They were chosen by their respective schools for outstanding citizenship, honesty, courage, service, leadership and patriotism.

The good citizens award also provides the opportunity for the student to participate in an essay contest for which scholarships are presented on the state and national levels. The DAR good citizens are chosen by the students and faculty of public and accredited schools including home-schooled students.

The good citizenship medal award is given on the chapter level through the national defense committee for the same merits. Both awards are open to boys and girls.

This year’s DAR good citizen winners are: Amanda Williams, daughter of Carole Gray, from Edward Little High School; Jessica Cooper, daughter of Kevin and Lisa Cooper, from Buckfield Jr./Sr. High School; Jacob Bailey, son of Rebecca Engelhena, from Buckfield Jr./Sr. High School; Mark Hite, son of Larry and Deborah Hite, from Leavitt Area High School.

This year’s DAR good citizenship medal award winners are: Katherine Sawyer, daughter of Richard and Brenda Sawyer, from Edward Little High School; Sydney Nadeau, son of Peter and Deanna Nadeau, from Leavitt Area High School.

Refreshments will be served following the program for the honored students, family and faculty.
