AUBURN — Nellie Frances Thompson, 92, passed away at Odd Fellow’s Nursing home April 2, after two years of declining health.

She was born in Ariton, Ala., Dec. 23, 1920, the daughter of Tullie and Alma (Payne) Sammons. She was educated in Alabama schools. In 1944, she moved to Maine, where she met and married Lewis W. Thompson Jr. with whom she remained, until his death in 1997.

Prior to retiring in 1985, she was employed at various restaurants and thoroughly enjoyed meeting and interacting with many customers. She was involved with the Parent Teacher’s Association at both Frye and Jordan schools. Her hobbies were vegetable gardening, grow­ing flowers, needlepoint and cooking for all occasions.

Survivors include a son, Dana L. Thompson; a granddaughter, Sarah J. Thompson; a niece, Nancy Thompson and her children; a nephew, Edwin Thompson, his wife, Florence and their children; a niece, Janice Hodgkins, her husband, Steve and their children; and a cousin, Ronnie Danner, his wife, Ann and their daughter.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by many relatives and good friends.
