DURHAM — Two drivers were injured and one vehicle demolished in a rear-end collision on Royalsborough Road at the Chickadee Lane intersection late Wednesday afternoon.

Dorene Johnson, 62, of Durham was driving south on Royalsborough Road and slowed down to make a left-hand turn onto Chickadee Lane, Deputy Sheriff Travis Lovering said.

The operator of the second car, Suzanne Carpentier, 57, of Auburn, was traveling behind her and was unable to stop in time to avoid striking the rear of Johnson’s car.

Johnson suffered facial cuts and was taken to Maine Medical Center by Durham Fire and Rescue. Carpentier complained of pain in her right ankle but was not transported, Lovering said.

Carpentier’s 2004 Volkswagen was demolished and Johnson’s 2012 Chevy Equinox was heavily damaged in the 5:45 p.m. crash. No charges were filed.
