SALEM TOWNSHIP — Two Kingfield residents were injured Tuesday when the Jeep they were in swerved to miss a deer on Route 142 and struck a utility pole and hit a tree, Lt. David Rackliffe of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday.

Deputy Sandy Burke responded to the accident at about 2:40 p.m.

The driver, Kimberly Grandmaison, 47, and her passenger, Thomas Grandmaison, 59, were taken by NorthStar Emergency Medical Services to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

Kimberly Grandmaison was still being treated at FMH on Wednesday, a spokeswoman said. Her condition was not released.

Thomas Grandmaison was transferred to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, she said.

The 2003 Jeep Liberty was extensively damaged, Rackliffe said.

He said neither the driver nor the passenger was wearing a seat belt.
