PARIS — Edward Dilworth of Dow’s Law Offices will visit the Paris Public Library from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, to provide resources and assistance to people seeking legal information. Dilworth and the library are participating in “Law Day 2013: Lawyers in Libraries,” a free event that is open to the public.

Dilworth will have a short presentation outlining free resources, low-cost legal assistance and legal referrals. In addition, some attendees will have the opportunity for a brief private consultation about personal legal questions.

The goals of Law Day are to provide Maine citizens with access to legal advice and information and to demonstrate the importance of legal access to a community’s general well-being; an entire community suffers when neighbors and friends go through foreclosure, are not safe in their homes or cannot afford heat or food.

Organizers of Law Day are the Maine Justice Action Group Collaboration on Innovation, Technology and Equal Access to Justice (the Collaboration) which includes the Maine State Bar Association, Pine Tree Legal Assistance, Maine’s public libraries, the Volunteer Lawyers Project, the State of Maine Judicial Branch and other organizations interested in helping people access the state’s legal resources.

For more information, call the library at 743-6994 or email paris.public.library@MSLN.net.
