FARMINGTON — Mt. Blue Theater Company has opened registration for the Watson Theater Workshops 2013, running July 15-26, with performances on July 26 and 27.

This summer, teenage actors in western and central Maine have another opportunity to hone their craft, to learn from their peers and to perform before area audiences.

Open to young actors entering high school in the fall through seniors graduating this spring, Watson Theater Workshops run on the unique schedule of 6 to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday. Participants audition, rehearse and perform two one-act plays, one comedic, one dramatic, with two evenings of performance (Friday and Saturday) to conclude the workshops.

Workshop director Dan Ryder coaches participants in character development, motivation and relationships, while also running a collaborative experience where participants will learn about all aspects of stagecraft and contribute to the overall success of the performances. No experience is necessary. Participants need only a desire to perform and a growing passion for the theater.

Tuition is $100 for the two-week experience, with proceeds going to support Mt. Blue Theater Company as it transitions into its new space and begins the task of replacing materials, costumes, set pieces and more that could not carry over from the old theater to the new.

Registration runs until June 1 or when 20 participants register, whichever comes first. For more information, individuals should visit www.watsonworkshops.wordpress.com or call Debby Muise at Mt. Blue Campus, 207-778-3561.
