RSU 10 pre-K registration

HARTFORD — Pre-kindergarten registration and screening for the fall 2013 class in the towns of Hartford, Sumner and Buckfield will take place from June 4-13.

All children who register must be 4 years old on or before Oct. 15. All children who will be starting pre-K next fall will need to be scheduled for a screening. For an application contact the Hartford-Sumner Elementary School’s office at 388-2681.

All students must be registered and screened prior to enrollment.

AARP chapter to meet May 13

PARIS — The Oxford Hills Chapter of AARP will meet on Monday, May 13, at the First Congregational Church on E. Main Street, South Paris.

Lunch will be served at noon and will include Swedish meatballs with noodles. The cost is $6.50 and reservations are required by calling Ruth at 744-9069 by noon Friday, May 10.

The business meeting will begin at 1 p.m. and will include installation of officers. Remember donations for the food pantry.

The program will feature Jeff Auger presenting “Gidgets, Gadjets and Thingamabobs.”

Legion seeks Boys State teens

BUCKFIELD — The American Legion John D. Long Post 58 is looking for local applicants to attend Dirigo Boys State to be held June 16-20 at Thomas College in Waterville.

Applicants must be completing their junior year of high school and have qualities of leadership, good character and service to their school and/or community.

The program is part instruction and part role playing government officials, while learning about our democratic style of government.

There is no cost to the student. Tuition is paid by the legion and sponsors. Anyone can recommend a student.

Perennial plant sale is May 11

NORWAY — A perennial plant sale will be held from 7 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 11, across the street from Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.

Proceeds will benefit His Place Teen Center in Oxford.

‘Woman’s Guide to Money Matters’

WINDHAM — A free class, “A Woman’s Guide to Money Matters,” will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, at Windham High School, Windham/Raymond Adult Ed., by Karen Fuller, financial adviser at Edward Jones.

Cryptogram contest winner

PARIS — Randy Rosenberg is the $5 winner of Paris Public Library’s April Cryptogram Contest.

May’s cryptograms are ready to pick up at the library’s front desk. This month’s focus celebrates and honors Memorial Day and those who sacrificed their all for our freedoms.

May’s completed cryptograms need to be in on or before May 31 for the $5 drawing.
