AUBURN — In June, the Auburn Public Library turns up the heat with some sizzling summer book launches by Maine authors. At 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 10, local historian and author Annette Dorey will debut her newest book titled “Miss Dr. Lucy and Maine’s Pioneering Female Physicians, 1850s to 1920.” Her extensive research reveals much about the lives and careers of over 250 women who had a passion for healing. These forgotten healers were either Maine natives who traveled far and wide to study medicine or women from other states who chose to establish their medical practice in Maine. The library is at 49 Spring Street. For more information, call 207-333-6640, ext. 4.
