SALEM — Junior short stop Calum Dixon roped a two-run single in the fourth inning to lift Mt. Abram to a 3-2 victory over Hall-Dale in MVC baseball action Friday.

The Bulldogs jumped out first with a pair of runs in the first inning.

Senior pitcher Jay Chenard also struck out six and walked three, but secured the win for the Roadrunners (3-4).

Winthrop 6, Spruce Mountain 5

WINTHROP — Sophomore catcher Dakota Carter tagged a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning to help push Winthrop to a 6-5 victory over Spruce Mountain in MVC baseball action Friday.

Trailing 5-2 in the sixth inning, the Ramblers (7-1) came out swinging. Following three singles, Carter hit his double.

Two batters later, Ben Caprara connected for a bloop single, scoring Carter for the eventual game-winning run. Phoenix (6-3) pitcher Payton Kennison threw strong and went 2-for-3 from the plate.

Lisbon 2, Carrabec 1

LISBON — Brett Gravel plated Darren Ward for the eventual game-winning run as Lisbon secured a 2-1 victory over Carrabec in MVC baseball action Friday.

The Greyhounds scored first with a run in the bottom of the first inning. Kyle Bourget was 2-for-2 with a run scored in the first, and doubled in the third.

Dirigo 11, Wiscasset 2

WISCASSET — Senior second baseman Brett Whittemore collected three hits, including a double, to power Dirigo to an 11-2 victory over Wiscasset in MVC baseball action Friday.

Chad Snowman produced four RBI with a pair of hits, while Kaine Hutchins contributed two doubles for the Cougars (7-2).

Tom Bailey had an RBI single in the sixth inning to shrink the Wolverine (2-6) deficit to 7-2 at the time.

Oceanside 5, Leavitt 1

TURNER — Ryan Allender’s big two-run RBI single in the first inning set the tone for the afternoon as Oceanside beat Leavitt, 5-1.

Allender helped his own effort by throwing nine innings with just one earned run and four strikeouts. Daniel Hendricks reached on an error but kept quick feet by stealing three bases and scoring for the Mariners (6-4).

Brian Hiscock cranked a home run in the seventh inning to try and start a late rally, but Allender had a different idea and finished the game with a win.

Marshall Weiss threw six innings for the Hornets (4-5) and received the loss.

Mountain Valley 11, Boothbay 4

BOOTHBAY HARBOR — Tim Fitzgerald gave up one earned run in four as Mountain Valley cruised to an 11-4 win over Boothbay. Ian Austin and Colin Merrill relieved Fitzgerald and closed the game up, allowing just three runs to cross the plate. Sean Murphy, Colin Merrill, and Ian Austin smacked three hits each while Nicols hit two. Murphy, Merrill and Austin all had doubles while Adam Volkernick crushed a triple to secure the win.

St. Dom’s 18, Telstar 3

BETHEL — Mitch Lorenz struck out 10 batters and didn’t walk a soul as St. Dom’s took an early lead and cruised to an 18-3 victory over Telstar.

Lorenz (3-0) helped his own effort with a double but had no problem keeping calm with the run support that he received from the Saints (9-0). William Desmarais raked in a whopping five RBI along with two hits to give St. Dom’s the edge.

Eric Lowell, Richard James and Colton Davis all had two hits for the Rebels (0-8).

while Logan Bartlet took the loss on the mound.
