FARMINGTON — Roseanne McKeen was recently presented the second annual Excellence in Nursing Award from Franklin Memorial Hospital.

A registered nurse in the Surgical Services department, she was among five nominees recognized for their outstanding contributions to support the advancement of nursing.

The others were Leslie Adams, RN, Livermore Falls Family Practice; Michelle Gordon, RN, Medical/Surgical Unit; Janice Morong, RN, Surgical Services; and Susan Pickrell, RN, Emergency Department.

The recognitions were made May 9, in coordination with National Nurses’ Week.

Along with the nominees, Pam Ernest, FMH chief nursing officer and vice president of patient care, also recognized the individuals who took the time to nominate a nurse by having each say a few words about her nominee before the winner was announced.

McKeen was nominated by Kelli Gats, RN, who cited her for being caring, kind, thoughtful, gentle, helpful and compassionate.

Special recognition was also given to employee Ken Rowe, biomedical equipment technician, and state Sen. Thomas Saviello of Wilton, who were declared honorary nurses for the immeasurable support each has given to the hospital, staff and nurses through the years.

Festivities prior to the award presentation included a social hour with light refreshments and entertainment by Native Oak.
