PARIS — A local man wanted on seven warrants was arrested Thursday on five more charges, including eluding police and being a fugitive from justice, interim police Chief Jerry Hinton said Friday.

Joshua R. Pollis, 27, of 224 High St. faces multiple charges, including driving to endanger, failure to submit to arrest, failure to stop for an officer, operating after license suspension and being a fugitive from justice, Hinton said.

Paris officers Nicholas Gilbert and Alan Carr were looking for Pollis to serve warrants and tried to stop him near his home Thursday evening. Pollis “made some evasive maneuvers with his van” in a yard near his house, drove to his yard and ran on foot, Hinton said.

“He actually fell down, and we were lucky enough to be there to help him up,” Hinton said.

Pollis has two warrants from Oxford County Superior Court charging theft and probation revocation, two warrants from 11th District Court in Rumford on charges of failure to appear in court and violating conditions of release, and three warrants from 8th District Court in Lewiston charging unpaid fines and fees, failure to appear in court and theft, an Oxford County Jail official said Friday night.

Pollis is being held without bail and is scheduled for arraignment June 14 in Oxford County Superior Court in Paris.
