RUMFORD — Alex Howard’s sacrifice fly in the ninth inning sent Jenie Rowland across the plate to give Mt. Abram a 4-3 win over Mountain Valley in MVC softball action Monday.

Alix Howard hurled nine frames of solid ball for the Roadrunners (4-5), while Lindsay Marston went the distance for Mountain Valley (5-4).

Brooke Dolloff belted out two hits for the Falcons and drove in one run.

Madison 8, Telstar 5

BETHEL — Madison scored five runs with the help of three Telstar errors in the top of the sixth inning Monday and went on to an 8-5 victory in an MVC softball showdown.

Emily McKenney struck out 10 and walked five for Madison (12-0). The Rebels outhit the Bulldogs, 9-4, but were undone by six errors.

Jessica Dirago had two hits at the plate for the Rebels and struck out six while allowing only four hits over the route. Rachael Wheeler had three hits, including a solo home run, for Telstar, and Autumn Berry added a pair of hits.

Lawrence 10, Mt. Blue 3

FARMINGTON — Paige Belanger’s two-run home run in the fifth inning broke open the game open for Lawrence on Monday as the Bulldogs posted a 10-3 KVAC softball victory over Mt. Blue.

Mandy Currier, Sarah Cummings and Lauren Guppy each had two hits for Mt. Blue.

Oak Hill 5, Winthrop 3

WINTHROP — Brooke LeBel and Alyssa Rouleau belted RBI singles in the fifth frame to give Oak Hill a 5-3 win over Winthrop in an MVC softball tilt Monday.

LeBel went 3-for-3 with two RBIs to lead the Raiders (7-2), while Rouleau also pounded out two hits. Kortni Michaud scattered three hits in seven innings to notch her seventh win of 2013.

Krissi Doughty went the distance for Winthrop in the loss.

Fryeburg 4, Poland 1

FRYEBURG — Sarah Harriman hurled seven innings of solid ball and drew adequate run support as Fryeburg hustled to a 4-1 victory over Poland.

Carla Tripp led the powerhouse Raiders (11-1) with three hits, while Maddie Pearson smashed a three-run home run in the first frame.

Beth Maheux led the Knights (6-4) with an RBI double in the seventh inning. Kylie Martin went the distance for Poland and was tagged with the loss.

Monmouth 6, Wiscasset 4

MONMOUTH —  Monmouth rallied for three runs in the sixth inning to pull out a 6-4 victory over Wiscasset on Monday.

Kylie Kemp led the Mustangs (4-5) with three hits and two RBIs, while Daisi Poole scored two runs.

The Wolverines (2-8) were paced by Kenzie Chancellor with two hits and two RBIs, while Hannah Campbell also drove in a run. 

Softball

Gardiner 2, Leavitt 1

GARDINER — Sarah Pare crushed an RBI triple for Gardiner and the Tigers remained unbeaten with a 2-1 win over Leavitt in KVAC softball action Monday.

Pare had outstanding pitching support from Kristal Smith, who gave up just four hits and one run for the Tigers (10-0).

Michelle Morin had a solid game, giving up just four hits and two runs for the Hornets (1-9).

St. Dom’s 15, Boothbay 3

AUBURN — Bethany Fox smacked a triple and drove in three as St. Dom’s overwhelmed Boothbay 15-3. The Saints’ bats were hot all afternoon as they recorded 14 hits on the day and didn’t go an inning without driving a run in.

Johanna Cullenberg held the Seahawks (0-10) to three runs on six hits and threw four scoreless innings.

Sarah Trott, Alexis Casey, Bethany Fox, Jacqueline Schmitz, and Samantha Ladd added in two hits each for the Saints (2-8).

Lacrosse

Lewiston 12, Brunswick 9

BRUNSWICK — Laurianne Murphy netted two goals and assisted three to guide Lewiston to a 12-9 victory over Brunswick Monday.

Natalie Rousseau led the Blue Devils (5-2) with four goals, while Jess Cote threw in three of her own. Sam Cote got the win in the net for Lewiston.

Eliza Brooks (four goals) and Grace Rabinowtz (two) led the way for the Dragons (2-6). Emma Aschbrenner took the loss in the net for Brunswick.
