NORWAY — A local man is accused of entering an apartment and attacking a man Friday night.
Stephen R. Duff, 22, of 262 Main St., faces charges of burglary and assault after a man said Duff and another man entered his apartment, pulled him from his bed and began beating him.
According to an arrest report by officer Mitchell Shaw of the Norway Police Department, the victim called police to say he’d been attacked. Shaw wrote that he observed the victim had a torn lip and bruising on his head. The victim was brought to Stephens Memorial Hospital for treatment.
On Sunday, Shaw saw Duff and questioned him. Duff denied hitting the man and said the man “gets assaulted all the time,” the report said. Shaw arrested Duff, who was released Monday afternoon on a $750 cash bail.
Duff’s arraignment is set for Sept. 3 in Oxford County Superior Court in Paris.
