RANGELEY — The bodies of two snowmobilers were located and recovered from Rangeley Lake this morning.

About 11:30 a.m., the Maine Warden Service dive team recovered the bodies of Kenneth Henderson and John Spencer, Doug Rafferty, spokesman for the service, said.

Henderson, 40, of China and Spencer, 41, of Litchfield were found in about 60 feet of water and located by wardens scanning with sonar. The dive team then went in to bring them to the surface, he said.

“It was a difficult search with the depth and windy conditions came up,” he said.

Wardens searched a two-and-a-half-square-mile area this morning before locating the bodies.  Rafferty could not comment on how close the bodies were to the one found Friday.

Wardens began a recovery effort last week and found the body of Glen Henderson, 43, of Sabattus on Friday.

The bodies were taken to Wiles Funeral Home in Farmington.

More information will be released later, he said.

The three snowmobilers have been missing since Dec. 30. Wardens believe the men were crossing the lake during whiteout conditions and drove into open water.
