WILTON — Police say a Jay man was arrested Tuesday on a felony charge of theft involving firearms, jewelry and a chain saw from a Temple Road home.

The homeowners reported the theft last week but Corey J. Shaw, 30, is believed to have broken into the home of family members several times over the past couple months, police Chief Heidi Wilcox said.

Two hunting rifles have been recovered along with some gold jewelry, she said. Police are still looking for the chain saw.

Police say Shaw tried to sell some of the jewelry in area pawn shops, including Auburn. The pawnshop slips connected him to the theft.

Shaw is expected to make an initial appearance in court Thursday, according to an officer at the Franklin County Detention Center.
