FARMINGTON — Giddy-Up & Go 4-H Horse Club will hold its annual manure sale from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 18, at Genesis Farm, 92 Hammond St., off Route 133. Club members will be on hand to bag manure. Farm owner, Ken Decker, will also be in the cab of his tractor to load trucks and trailers.

Manure is available by the bag for $3 or by the tractor bucket load for $15. Larger pick-ups can hold two bucket loads.

The sale will start with an aged pile of mixed manure: horse, cow, chicken and pig. When that pile has been sold, sales will be of manure that has accumulated over this past winter. There are no pesticides or herbicides in the manure.

The sale is a fundraiser for the club to expand the group’s activities. Recently the group took a field trip to a large equine hospital in New Hampshire. In the past, Giddy-Up has bought jackets for the members and a cordless microphone to use during mounted meetings. Presently, the club is looking to purchase other sound system components.

Giddy-Up & Go was founded in 2007, and currently has 22 members. Each year the club holds a fundraiser for Double B Equine Rescue, and hosts several mounted meetings. Members also participate in county horse camp and 4-H horse shows.
