JAY — Recently the Daughters of Isabella 677 from St. Rose of Lima held their May business meeting. Chancellor Laurianne Castonguay led everyone in the recitation of the rosary.

A short from conferral was performed for new members Sherri Ouelette and Doreen Maxwell. A long form conferral will be held at a later date.

Regent Denise Rodzen called the meeting to order. The pledge to the flag was recited. Recording secretary read the roll call of officers. Filling in for Outer Guard Amy-Ouellette Newman was Rita Crowley, filling in for Inner Guard Karen Daniels was Patty Ouellette, filling in for Monitor Irene Castonguay was Gina Labbe, in for Louise Buzzell was Fern Doiron.

Recording secretary Jackie Castonguay read the minutes of the April business meeting. Communications received was a thank-you card from the daughters of deceased Daughter Catherine Larachelle.

Rodzen then read a letter she received from International Regent Christiane Chagnon. Regent then spoke about the Memorial Day parade and asked who would like to be on the float in the parade. Fern Doiron was put in charge of getting Daughters to be on the float or walk in the parade. Daughter Marilyn Bourgoin said that her son Tim Kachnovich, owner of T & T Landscaping, would donate a truck and trailer for the Daughters to use in the parade.

Regent then spoke about the Mass that the Daughters were in. She said that there were a lot of compliments from parishioners saying how nice it was to look see so many red shirts and knowing how many Daughters participated.

Regent then spoke about the carnations for Mother’s Day. Rita Crowley was put in charge of the group selling carnations. Linda Ouellette then read a letter from her daughter, Amy-Ouellette Newman, about Team Izzy, which is trying to raise money to find a cure for cancer.

Gina Labbe spoke next about the cemetery clean up day and cleaning up the Daughters’ site at Holy Cross.

The summer outing was discussed, and the possibility of having it at the church camp. Vice regent Dot Morgan spoke on the different restaurants for the summer outing. Regent said that the voting will take place at the May social.

The Baccalaureate was next and that will be decided at a later date.
