CARIBOU — Three southern Aroostook County residents nabbed by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency in January after allegedly trafficking in methamphetamine and endangering the welfare of a minor have been indicted by the grand jury.

The indictments against Jammie Dickinson, 28, and Kyle Stewart, 25, both of Houlton, and Crystal Dehahn, 26, of Hodgdon were handed down when the grand jury met on May 10, District Attorney Todd Collins said earlier this week.

Each individual was indicted on charges of unlawful trafficking of scheduled drugs and endangering the welfare of a child stemming from the incident at 60 Military St. in Houlton. Stewart and Dickinson also were indicted on domestic violence charges, but no information was immediately available on that charge.

Darrell Crandall, MDEA division commander, said that the MDEA’s lab team executed a search warrant at an apartment at that location in Houlton after reports of criminal drug activity and strong chemical odors. There also were reports of children living in the apartment.

Crandall said that when agents arrived to interview Dickinson and Stewart, a toddler was present. Based upon the reports to police and observations made during that visit, all occupants of the apartment building were evacuated.

Agents said they seized chemicals, solvents, equipment and other materials used to make methamphetamine. Agents also reportedly found strips of lithium metal, a highly flammable component of methamphetamine, hidden inside a child’s shirt near where the child sleeps.

Stewart and Dickinson were arrested, as was Dehahn.
