WATERVILLE — Married life is bliss, especially for novelist Charles Condomine and his second wife Ruth. That is, until an eccentric dowager who dabbles in the occult is invited into their happy home. When Madame Arcati conjures up the spirit of Charles’s deceased first wife Elvira, married life becomes something other than blithe!

Aqua City Actor’s Theatre will present Noel Coward’s comedy “Blithe Spirit” in the Studio Theater of the Waterville Opera House, located on the first floor of The Center, 93 Main Street. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 31; Sunday, Friday and Saturday,  June 1, 7 and 8; and at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 2 and 9.

This fizzy cocktail of wit and word rounds out ACAT’s 2012-2013 “Drunk on Drama” season. Director Michael Jinbo, whose ACAT production of “Lend Me Tenor” played to sold-out audiences, has selected a cast of community talent that includes both ACAT veterans and newcomers. Timothy Croce (Charles), Michelle Sweet (Ruth) and Juli Brooks (Elvira) comprise the spirited triangle. Also featured are David Germain (Dr. Bradman), Sheila Shay (Mrs. Bradman) and Martha McCarthy (Edith). Local community theatre legend MJ Rinfret (Madame Arcati) returns to the stage after much too long of a hiatus to embody one of Coward’s most memorable and colorful characters.

General admission tickets ($12 adult, $10 youth/senior) will be available at the door. To make advance reservations, call the Waterville Opera House at 207-873-7000 or visit tickets.operahouse.org. Seating is limited, so make your reservations early.

Opening night, Friday, May 31, offers reduced ticket prices ($10 adult, $8 youth/senior) as well as a gala post-performance reception of food, fun and friendship.
