AUGUSTA (AP) — Maine Democratic legislative leaders say Gov. Paul LePage announced he’ll move his office space out of the State House by July 1.
The Democrats say the Republican governor made that announcement after an early-morning meeting with legislative leadership Thursday.
Senate President Justin Alfond of Portland calls the news disappointing and frustrating. He says the governor’s “ongoing pattern of behavior is embarrassing and not helpful to getting things done for the people of Maine.”
A message left with the governor’s office was not immediately returned.
Democratic leaders say LePage’s decision stems from a disagreement over his use of space in the State House Hall of Flags.
