1927 – 2013

CANTON — Irene M. Fournier, 85, a former resident of Jay, died Friday, May 24, at Victorian Villa Nursing Home, where she had resided since 2005.

She was born Oct. 7, 1927, in Lynn, Mass., the daughter of Albert Poulin and Yvonne (Lebrasseur) Poulin. Irene was a 1946 graduate of Livermore Falls High School.

She married Paul J. Letourneau, who passed away on Aug. 21, 1957, as a result of an airplane crash while in the military. She later married Roger J. Fournier on May 16, 1959, who passed away on Feb. 9, 1995.

Irene devoted her life to caring for her home and family, whom she loved deeply. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Jay and was a  former member of Daughters of Isabella and Frank L. Mitchell Post 3335 Ladies Auxiliary.

Irene loved entertaining, playing cards and bridge, cooking, crocheting, crossword puzzles and Jeopardy, as well as their camp on Round Pond.

She is survived by her sons, Mark Letourneau and his wife, Terri, of Jay, Alan Letourneau and his wife, Jan, of Tenants Harbor, John Fournier and companion, Jackie Lempenau, of Jay, and Chris Fournier and his wife, Joann, of San Diego; her sister, Doris Folkes and her husband, Granville William, of Port Clyde and Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren, Heather Anderson, Michael Letourneau, Kate Letourneau, Carrie Letourneau, Shannon Fournier, Justin Gray and Austin Balilla; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Nevaeh Anderson; brothers-in-law, Clement Desjardins of Auburn, Napolean Frechette, Arthur Letourneau of Jay, Larry Letourneau and his wife, Barbara, of Johnson City, Tenn., Herbert Mollicone of St. Cloud, Fla., Raymond Fournier and his wife, Barbara, of Florida, and Richard Fournier and his wife, Betsy, of Jay; and sisters-in-law, Gloria Poulin of Livermore Falls, and Rita St. Germain and her husband, Leo, of New Hampshire; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son, Paul Letourneau; daughter, Jane Fournier; brothers, Raymond and Ernest Poulin; sisters, Elaine Sturtevant, Violet Frechette, and Lucille Desjardins; brother-in-law, Maurice Fournier and her sisters-in-law, Theresé Poulin, Florence Mollicone and Mavis Letourneau.
