Transportation is a key element in economic development. Passenger rail service from Portland to Lewiston-Auburn with a train station located on the St. Lawrence & Atlantic line near the airport would greatly enhance development in this area. Officials must think in the long term and make decisions that would have the most impact. If the train goes to Canada, it would be more beneficial for this area and Oxford County.

By taking the train to Canada, people could easily travel to not only western Canada but to most of the U.S. without having to travel by other means to get to another train station, as we have to do now in Boston.

Besides, with all the ski resorts, couldn’t we dream about hosting the Winter Olympics some day?

The public already owns the line from Portland to the airport in Auburn. People need to speak up in support of the train.
