AUBURN — Eugene Keene has been named the new athletic administrator at Saint Dominic Academy.

Keene, previously the athletic administrator at Brunswick High School, replaces Lee Hixon, who has served as athletic administrator at Saint Dominic Academy for 12 years.

Keene oversaw 22 different sports programs as athletic administrator at Brunswick High School, a position he has held since 2005. He has also served as an athletic administrator at Maranacook Community School (2004-2005), a teacher at Brunswick High School (2002-2004), an assistant football coach at Bates College in Lewiston (2002-2004), and as a teacher/coach at Edward Little High School in Auburn (1990-2002).

Keene, who graduated from the University of Maine in Orono in 1978, is an Auburn resident and a member of Edward Little High School’s Class of 1973.

Keene has been honored as Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference Athletic Administrator of the Year (2012) and received the Maine Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association Special Achievement Award (2012). He has also served as a board member for the Maine Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association since 2010 and as a committee member for the Maine Principals Association Basketball Committee since 2011. In 2012, Keene acted as Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference president and is currently a member of the Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference executive board.
