HAMDEN, Conn. — Richard Danieli of New Gloucester received a Master of Health Science in radiologist assistant from Quinnipiac University during a commencement ceremony held May 12.

WILLIMANTIC, Conn. — Eastern Connecticut State University’s 123rd Commencement took place May 14.

Alexander Verrill graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in sport and leisure management. Verrill is a resident of Hiram.

PORTLAND — Doctor of Pharmacy students of the University of New England’s inaugural class of 90 graduated on May 18.

Rachel Mayer grew up in Raymond, graduating from Gray-New Gloucester High School. She received her undergraduate degree in pre-pharmacy at UNE’s Biddeford campus, and also chose to stay close to home to pursue her doctoral pharmacy degree at UNE. Her decision to stay close to home brought her far-reaching opportunities.

Last fall, she and others in the Class of 2013 traveled to Thailand where they learned about their profession from a different cultural perspective. After graduation, Mayer will join a residency program at the Veterans Administration Healthcare System at Togus in Augusta.

Nicholas LeBlanc came to UNE from Auburn and will be pursuing a residency program in Bangor at Penobscot Community Health Center.

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Caitlin Forbes of Hanover, Maine, graduated summa cum laude from Saint Anselm College on May 18 and continues onto a Ph.D. program at the University of Connecticut.

At Saint Anselm, Forbes earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. She led the women’s ski team to top finishes at USCSA Regionals, qualifying them for the USCSA Nationals in Sun Valley, Idaho, for the second time in the program’s history.

She also was one of 29 women in the NCAA winter sport student athletes to receive an NCAA postgraduate scholarship. To qualify, student-athletes needed to excel academically and athletically, be in their final year of eligibility and plan to pursue graduate study.

Forbes will earn her master’s and doctorate at the University of Connecticut through a six-year program with a concentration in American literature post-1900.

She is a member of Saint Anselm College’s TAU Chapter of Delta Epsilon Sigma, National Catholic Scholastic Honor Society.

BANGOR — On May 24, three students from Husson University were among the 42 students graduating from the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.

All three students have already been hired by departments: Chase Haas by Orono Police Department; Jonathan Rogers by York Police Department; and Andrew Whitney by Oxford County Sheriff’s Office. Rogers also earned six different awards at graduation including class valedictorian, Combined Practical Skills Proficiency Award, Emergency Vehicle Operation Course Proficiency Award, Mechanics of Arrest, Restraint and Control Proficiency Award, Iron-Man Award and Tuition Student Scholarship Award.

BOSTON — Wentworth Institute of Technology awarded 196 degrees on May 5.

Benjamin Nadeau of Sabattus was awarded the Bachelor of Science degree and was among the graduates of the Class of 2013.

UTICA, N.Y. — Stephanie J. Belanger of Lewiston has recently graduated from Utica College with a Bachelor of Science in biology/ pre-professional medicine.
