Open house, photo contest
TURNER — On the Fourth of July as part of the festivities in town, the Turner Natural History Club Museum will have an open house and it annual photo contest. The open house will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 442 Turner Center Road.
Photos may be submitted from 9 to 11 a.m. with judging at 11. Anyone, professional or amateur, may enter. Categories are Landscape, Birds and Animals. Children are especially urged to participate. Entries may be from any camera in any format, framed or not. Ribbons and prizes will be awarded.
All ages will enjoy touring the museum, which has thousands of natural exhibits such as minerals, sea shells, birds and bird eggs, tree cones, snake skins and much more.
Turner Library annual book sale
TURNER — The Turner Public Library will hold its annual Book Sale from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday, July 4, and from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 6.
There will be thousands of books, an especially inviting children’s area, and videos, CDs and DVDs. Hardcovers $1, paperbacks 50 cents and children’s books four for $1. Some books specially priced.
The sale is for the benefit of the library, and is held downstairs at 98 Matthews Way. For more information call 212-7872 or check www.turnerpubliclibrary.org
Community breakfast
KINGFIELD — A community all-you-can-eat breakfast will be offered from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday, July 6, at the Kingfield United Methodist Church on High Street.
The menu will include homemade sausage gravy with biscuits, pancakes, French toast, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, home-fries, muffins, coffee and juice. The cost is $5 per person, all you can eat. A discounted rate is available for children.
