WATERVILLE (AP) — MaineGeneral Health is relocating 180 employees to a Waterville building in a move that won’t add jobs, but which the hospital says shows its commitment to downtown revitalization.

The Morning Sentinel reported (http://bit.ly/14snVbG) that employees will move into the Hathaway Creative Center in July 2014.

The move is the latest development in a major restructuring at MaineGeneral that includes consolidating inpatient services at a $312 million health center being built in Augusta.

The deal between MaineGeneral and the Hathaway center has been in the works for years.

Hathaway developer Paul Boghossian said he hopes the move will spur further development in other buildings in the historic Lockwood Mills complex, where the Hathaway building is located.
