MILFORD — An Old Town woman was arrested after an accident on Route 2 Monday night in which her boyfriend suffered rib and shoulder fractures.

Rachel Guimond, 31, remained behind bars Tuesday night, unable to make bail of $2,000 cash. She is charged with operating under the influence, two counts of assaulting a police officer, operating after suspension of her driver’s license and aggravated driving to endanger, the latter of which is a felony, according to Maine State Police Trooper Chris Hashey.

Hashey said Tuesday night that the accident that led to the charges occurred about 7 p.m., when Guimond allegedly drove her car at a high rate of speed up behind a southbound motorcycle being driven by her boyfriend, a 52-year-old Milford man whose name is being withheld.

Guimond then reportedly attempted to drive around the motorcycle, ejecting her boyfriend, Hashey said. She then ran over the motorcycle, causing significant damage, the trooper said. He said it was not clear if there was a collision between the two vehicles or if it was intentional on Guimond’s part.

When police arrived to investigate, Guimond became combative, spitting on Hashey and striking Veazie police Officer Taylor Dube, who was off duty at the time, in the face, Hashey said.

Guimond’s boyfriend was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center, where his injuries were treated. He since has been released, Hashey said. Guimond also was taken to EMMC for blood-alcohol content testing, he said.

Hashey said the accident remains under investigation. A section of Route 2 was closed for more than four hours Monday night to allow police to reconstruct the accident.

Guimond is scheduled to make a court appearance on Wednesday at the Penobscot Judicial Center.
