The Walmart Foundation gave the Auburn-Lewiston YMCA a grant of $25,000 during a recent reception at the governor’s mansion in Augusta. Coming from Walmart’s State Giving Program, the donation will fund the YMCA’s “Let’s Move Program,” a national program aimed at teaching children and their families the importance of nutrition and active play. The Y program will target pre-kindergarten to 6th-graders through a variety of fun activities. Attending the donation ceremony were, from left, Maine Speaker of the House Mark W. Eves; Kristin Melville, director of Financial Development at the YMCA; and Alexandra Serra of the Walmart Foundation.
