OXFORD — Twenty-year-old singer-songwriter Davina Leone will bring her anti-bullying message to the Oxford Hills School District in September, a day before she performs the Oxford Fair.

Leone will perform Sept. 13 at Oxford Hills middle and high schools in Paris and at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Oxford Fair on Pottle Road in Oxford.

The school performances are part of her recently initiated anti-bullying campaign titled “The Message Tour.” She speaks to students about the dangers of bullying and the importance of self-esteem.

“Yes, Davina will be doing a concert at the Oxford Hills Middle School” and one at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School, Susan Berry, vice president of the Oxford County Agricultural Society, recently confirmed.

According to her website, Leone was named celebrity ambassador for the anti-bullying organization Defeat The Label in 2013.

“Singing her empowering songs and lyrics, and urging others to join her, Leone devotes herself to inspiring people everywhere to believe in themselves and grow with love,” Leone’s website says. “Her passion for sharing her message and reaching out to the world through her songs makes her 2013’s most unique pop sensation.”

Leone was raised in Miami in a family of musicians and singers. At a young age, she played the piano and explored other instruments in school. At the age of 10, she began acting and dancing in Broadway shows for local theaters, according to her website.

At the age of 14, she began to post YouTube videos of her singing performances before she was discovered by songwriter Richie Supa, best known for his work with Aerosmith, Pink, Richie Sambora, and producer George Noriega. Together, they created her debut album titled “Awake,” which will be released soon, the website says.

Leone will join legendary country singer Kenny Rogers on Sept. 14 at the Oxford Fair. Caroline Kole, a 15-year-old country star, will open for Rogers.

The Oxford Fair runs Sept. 11-14. Admission is $10 to the fairgrounds.
