Roast turkey dinner July 12

LISBON FALLS — Pioneer Chapter No. 11 will hold a roast turkey dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday, July 12, at the Masonic Hall, Oak Street.

Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for ages 12 and under, free for preschool age.

Bird Club plans mineral trip

LEWISTON — The Stanton Bird Club will sponsor a trip to Greenwood  to hunt for minerals at the Tamminen Mine on Saturday, July 13.

Tamminen is an open pit mine about 32 miles from Lewiston. The group will carpool from the Promenade Mall parking lot in front of Staples leaving at 7 a.m. and returning at noon.

It is advised to wear long pants and sneakers or boots and bring drinking water and a snack. You might also bring a hammer, trowel and a bucket.

The minerals participants will find are mica, quartz, granite and feldspar. They might uncover clear and smoky quartz, tourmaline, beryl, cookeite and other colorful minerals.

American Legion to meet July 17

LEWISTON — American Legion Post 210 will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 17, at the Armory on Central Street. All interested parties and current members are welcome to join members as they prepare for the next year.

Monthly potluck at Poland church

POLAND — Poland Community Church will hold its monthly potluck supper at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 20. The church is on Route 26. All are welcome.

Baked bean, spaghetti supper

POWNAL — The First Parish Congregational Church, 422 Hallowell Road, will host a baked bean and spaghetti supper on Saturday, July 20. Settings are at 5 and 6 p.m.
