RUMFORD — The Mahoosuc Land Trust’s third annual Gourmet Hike on Rumford Whitecap starts at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 13, in the Whitecap parking area on East Andover Road in Rumford.

Participants are asked to bring a “gourmet” dish to share. The trust defines “gourmet” as anything beyond peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and granola, oatmeal, raisins and peanuts or “gobs of raw protein,” better known as GORP.

Participants are asked to RSVP to mlt@mahoosuc.org or call 824-3806 to give organizers an idea of how many are hiking.

The trust’s other summer outing is its Eco-House Tour. That will be held from 1 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 4, starting at the trust’s office at 18 Mayville Road (Route 2) in Bethel.

It is a tour of homes in Bethel and Newry, and Shelburne, N.H., whose owners have taken advantage of many varieties of alternative energy sources for space heating, lighting, domestic hot-water heating and of new ways of conserving total energy consumption.

Tour routes will begin at the land trust’s office at 1 p.m. and the homes will be open until 5:30p.m. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Maps and tickets are available at the trust office at 12:30 p.m.
