A tire track across a lawn and the stump of a shattered utility pole at 206 Lincoln Ave. in Rumford remained as evidence of an early Friday morning crash. Police arrested Charles Beardsley, 29, of Rumford at 2:06 a.m. on Knox Street on charges of operating under the influence, leaving the scene of a property damage crash and failing to report a property damage crash by quickest means possible. Beardsley was not hurt and released on $800 unsecured bail and will be arraigned Sept. 3 in 11th District Court. Rumford administrative officer Matthew Desroches said Friday afternoon that Beardsley was driving a 2006 Dodge pickup truck when he struck the utility pole. Desroches drove off and was later found on Knox Street, he said.
