JAY — Police identified the body found in woods behind Spruce Mountain High School early Tuesday as that of Joshua Maschino, 27, of Lewiston.

Maschino had been reported missing from a job site at Spruce Mountain High School at about 6 p.m. Monday.

“There is nothing to indicate foul play,” Jay police Chief Larry White Sr. said Wednesday.

Members of the Maine Warden Service assisted in the search late Monday night and found the body at about 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, White said.

State police Detective Michael Chavez went to the scene to assist Jay Detective Richard Caton IV and found “nothing to indicate foul play,” White said. Caton is the primary investigator.

White, Caton and Jay police Sgt. Troy Young also assisted, as well as Officer Mike Mejia and the medical examiner’s office.
