AUBURN — The 2013 Maine Reader’s Choice Award Finalists will be unveiled at the Auburn Public Library Coffee and Cookies social hour at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 18.
The first 20 who attend will receive a free limited edition APL coffee mug and all who come can discover how to become eligible for a grand prize drawing.
A committee, which was comprised of 20 librarians, booksellers, literacy advocates, reviewers and writers, selected three finalists from an initial field of more than 40 works of fiction. The Maine Readers’ Choice Award was officially established in 2013 by the Maine State Library and the Maine Library Association with the aim of increasing awareness and reading of adult literary fiction
The selection of the first Maine Readers’ Choice Award winner will now be in the hands of readers and fiction lovers throughout the state of Maine. Readers can vote online between Sept. 1-15 at the award’s website, mainereaderschoiceaward.org, and at public libraries throughout the state.
The final award winner will be announced as part of the 2013 Bangor Book Festival, running Oct. 4-5, at venues throughout downtown Bangor. Further information regarding the time and location of the award will be made on the Maine Readers’ Choice Award and the Bangor Book Festival’s websites.
