MEXICO — Mexico Public Library will host an American Girl Tea Party for girls ages 6-11 at 1 p.m. Friday, July 26, at the Calvin Lyons Hall, next door to the library.

Those attending will meet American Girl Addy, and travel back in time to the 1860s U.S. Civil War era. Addy was an African American girl who lived during that era and along with her family was a slave on a southern plantation.

Girls who attend will work on a craft and participate in activities from that era. A tea party, with real china cups, and light refreshments will be enjoyed by the girls.

Every girl who attends may enter a drawing to win a miniature collectible Addy doll and introductory book, “Meet Addy.”

Any American Girl dolls are invited to attend with their owners. Although not necessary, girls are invited to dress in the style of clothing that was popular for girls in the 1860s or to just dress in the clothing style of 2013.

RSVPs are encouraged and appreciated by Tuesday, July 23. For more information, call the library at 364-3281 or inquire at the Circulation Desk.
