MECHANIC FALLS — A dispute over a couch ended in a stabbing early Saturday, leaving one man in serious condition with knife wounds in his side, abdomen and head, police said.
The accused stabber, Bryan Peabody, 18, of 508 Main St., Lewiston, was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault and held at the Androscoggin County Jail on $10,000 cash bail.
Mechanic Falls police Lt. Paul Harrison declined to release the name of the victim. Though he suffered numerous wounds, they did not appear to be life-threatening, the lieutenant said.
The incident was reported at about 2 a.m. Saturday at 3 North Main St. in Mechanic Falls. Peabody was taken to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Lewiston, where he was treated for a cut on his hand and punches, Harrison said.
The stabbing victim was taken to Central Maine Medical Center.
