PARIS — The community is invited to join The Fox School Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 27, for “Artful Salad Day” as the market offers healthy salads served in an artful and creative way.
In conjunction with the annual Moore Park Art Show in South Paris the farmers market will host local chef Anna Sysko who will prepare fresh salads with a flair. Anna will discuss the use of local produce; enjoy her creations free of charge as a thank-you to the community.
Sysko is the owner of Anna’s Greenhouse and Gardens in Newry. She is not only a grower of produce; she caters, teaches and lives in the world of local foods. The salads will be served on edible plates such as lettuce and taco shells with chop sticks for utensils, making them low environmental impact salads.
The art show will feature 50 artists and artisans along with live entertainment throughout the day. The show runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the park, which is just a short walk or drive from the market. Regular vendor Bill Koch of “Benched” will have his creations made from reclaimed wood on display at the art show.
The Fox School Farmers Market is held each Saturday morning at the old Mildred Fox School, 10 East Main St., presently the Oxford Hills Christian Academy. The market is open rain or shine, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. from Mother’s Day weekend through mid-October.
