AUGUSTA — Matthew Partridge of Winslow is going to prison for 15 years for fatally shooting Justin Smith outside a Waterville pub.

Partridge, 30, of Winslow pleaded guilty to manslaughter Wednesday in the Dec. 4 shooting of 26-year-old Smith of China.

In a plea agreement between prosecutors and defense attorneys, he was sentenced in Kennebec County Superior Court to 25 years in prison, with 10 of those years suspended, and four years’ probation.

The Kennebec Journal (http://bit.ly/16uwnbP ) reported that Assistant Attorney General Andrew Benson told the judge that Smith punched Partridge in the nose while Partridge was sitting in his pickup truck outside of the You Know Who’s Pub, but retreated with his hands up when he saw Partridge had a gun. Benson said Partridge then fired two shots at him.
