PORTLAND — A Biddeford man who was hit by a pickup truck while bicycling with his family has died of his injuries.

Police say 52-year-old Jamerico Elliott died Wednesday at Maine Medical Center in Portland three days after a truck crossed Route 1 in Biddeford and hit Elliott’s bike as he was riding on a sidewalk with his 15-month-son in a bicycle seat. The boy’s mother, 30-year-old Melodie Brennan, was also struck on her bike.

The truck driver, 56-year-old David Labonte of Kennebunkport, has not been charged, but police say alcohol may have been a factor. Officials say Labonte has been convicted of drunken-driving four times.

The boy, Lavarice Elliott, was last listed in critical condition at Maine Medical Center. His mother was treated for her injuries, but not hospitalized.
