OXFORD — On Friday, Aug. 16, The Rock House Teen Center, formerly known as His Place Teen Center, will host a free event for the whole community at their facility at 254 Webberbrook Road.
The event they’re calling the “End Of Summer Bash” is free and open to the public. It’s designed to appeal to the whole family with free food, games, prizes and music.
The teen center has two bands lined up to play that night. The Blacksmiths, from the local area, are a veteran band that has, in its many years, had the privilege of playing on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, as well as playing at the White House for the Pageant of Peace Christmas celebration.
Epic Season, from New Hampshire, is a young, fairly new, but very talented band that has played at New England’s largest Christian music festival, SoulFest, where they were discovered by Paul Colman, former guitarist for the world famous band, Newsboys. The band went to Nashville where Colman helped them produce their first album, a six-song EP titled, “Till Darkness Falls to Dawn,” which was released on March 12.
Joining the bands at The Rock House that night will be the youth ministry of The McCabe Brothers and the juggling, comedy and rope escapes of Steve Corning.
The event will run from 6 to 10 p.m. It is free to the public, but organizers ask those who plan on coming to go to www.TheEndOfSummerBash.eventbrite.com to print off a free ticket to be entered to win prizes given away that night. Only people with tickets will be eligible to win prizes at the event. No tickets are necessary to get into the event.
The Rock House Teen Center is a nonprofit ministry of Youth Outreach Ministries. For more information call 743-6500.
