SCARBOROUGH (AP) — Officials say a man has been seriously hurt after being struck by an Amtrak passenger train in Scarborough, Maine.
Authorities say a man whose identity has not been released was struck by the train at about 8:15 a.m. Sunday where the tracks pass under Black Point Road near Highland Avenue. The south-bound train was delayed for about 90 minutes.
A Scarborough Fire Department official says the man’s injuries were extensive, but that he was alert and conscious when helped arrived.
Robert Murphy, an investigator with the Boston and Maine Railroad police, tells the Portland Press Herald it will take several days to determine how the accident occurred.
