JAY — Two people were injured Sunday morning when the cars they were driving collided on Route 4, near the intersection of Old Jay Hill Road.

Brittany Carrier, 17, of Jay was driving up Old Jay Hill Road near the Jay Highway Garage and pulled out onto Route 4 into the path of another car, driven by Charlotte Jordan, 64, of Livermore Falls, Jay police Chief Larry White Sr. said Monday.

Carrier’s 2008 Volkswagen collided with Jordan’s 2010 Hyundai, which was heading south on Route 4 at about 7:30 a.m.

Both parties complained of minor injuries but declined to be taken to the hospital by a NorthStar EMS ambulance, he said.

Both vehicles received extensive damage, White said.

Jay officers Wilmor Herrin and Russell Adams investigated the crash, and Jay firefighters responded to assist police.

In another accident, Cpl. Jeffrey Fournier investigated a one-vehicle crash at 2:10 a.m. on Saturday on Chesterville Road, also known as Route 156, White said.

Joshua Gage, 30, of Farmington fell asleep, and the vehicle he was driving drifted off the road and traveled about 150 feet in a ditch, hitting a tree, he said.

Gage was not injured, White said, according to Fournier’s report.

The 2001 Subaru had extensive damage, he said.

Jay firefighters responded to assist Fournier.
