As a long-time Rumford resident, I am disturbed by changes in Anthem’s health insurance plan that would force me to travel from Rumford for my medical care.

I am satisfied with the physicians and the Rumford Hospital, as well as Central Maine Medical Center. The people of Rumford are well served, so there is no reason to change our health care.

The Maine Bureau of Insurance has supported the Anthem plan, which will exclude Rumford area physicians, the Rumford Hospital and CMMC, and force people on the plan to travel out of town for medical care. Of course, travel adds stress to medical problems, as any medical professional knows.

A public hearing on this unreasonable plan by Anthem is scheduled this Thursday evening at Central Maine Community College in Auburn.

Area people must support our Rumford physicians and our Rumford Hospital, as they have supported us with their care.
