1930 – 2013

EAST RUMFORD — Charles F. Dugas, 82, died peacefully Tuesday, Aug. 27, at his home on Prospect Avenue, with his beloved family by his side.

He was born in Revere, Mass., on Nov. 11, 1930, a son of Joseph and Josephine (McIsaac) Dugas, and attended schools in Massachusetts and Belgrade Lakes. He was a Korean War veteran and served with the U.S. Army.

He worked as a welder for many years, until retirement in 1987 from Boise Cascade Paper Co. in Rumford. He was a member of the Sam and Webb River Sportsman’s Club, enjoyed several hobbies and loved to learn.

He was married in Dixfield on Jan. 28, 1959, to Betty Dugas, who survives of East Rumford. Other survivors include his daughters, Cynthia Freeman and husband, Gregg, of Peru and Kelly Jo Dugas of East Rumford; sons, Thomas Dugas and wife, Alice, and David Dugas and wife, Christine, all of Hopewell, N.Y.; a brother, Eddie Park and wife, Donna, of Hartland; a sister, JoAnna Batherson and husband, Richard, of Sacramento, Calif.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by a son, Jerry Dugas and his wife, Joanne Dawson.
